Beverly Hills & Hollywood area guides
Moving to Beverly Hills, West Hollywood or Hollywood
Which neighborhood fits you?
For a Beverly Hills address with Beverly Hills schools, the city of Beverly Hills itself. For the 90210 ZIP code in the hills at Los Angeles prices and with Los Angeles services, Beverly Crest. For views and architecture, Hollywood Hills West. For walkable nightlife and condos, West Hollywood and Hollywood. For 1920s Spanish houses and duplexes, Carthay, Fairfax, Beverly Grove and Pico-Robertson.
Historic districts and hillside rules
Carthay Circle, South Carthay and Carthay Square are city historic preservation zones where exterior changes are reviewed. In the hills, Los Angeles hillside and mansionization ordinances limit the size of new homes, and narrow streets affect construction and insurance.
Commuting and getting around
There is no freeway through the middle of this region, so Sunset, Santa Monica, Wilshire and Olympic boulevards carry the traffic. The Metro B Line serves Hollywood, and the D Line subway extension runs under Wilshire through the Miracle Mile to Beverly Hills and on toward Century City and Westwood.
