Cornell is the unincorporated Los Angeles County area along Cornell Road, south of Agoura Road and the 101, between the City of Agoura Hills and Malibou Lake. The addresses say Agoura Hills. The area this guide covers has about 110 homes, nearly all custom built, on Cornell Road, Medea Mesa Road, Silver Creek Road, Wagon Road, Caleta Road and the private enclaves of Countryside Drive, French Court and Hunt Club Court. Most went up between 1979 and 1998.

Custom homes and enclaves
Most of Cornell was built one house at a time on lots of a third of an acre to several acres. A few small tracts form enclaves: seven homes on Countryside Drive and two on French Court, built from 1985 to 1990 at about 4,500 to 7,100 square feet, and ten on Hunt Club Court, built from 1990 to 1998 at about 5,300 to 8,000 square feet.
Cornell Road, Medea Mesa Road, Silver Creek Road and Wagon Road have a mix of older ranch houses and newer custom homes.
Landmarks
Paramount Ranch, a National Park Service site on Cornell Road, and Malibou Lake are to the south. Medea Valley Estates, a gated community off Kanan Road, has its own guide.

Cornell is unincorporated Los Angeles County. Building permits, zoning and code enforcement go through the county, not the City of Agoura Hills.
What to check
Confirm whether the home is on sewer or septic and on public or well water, check road maintenance agreements on private streets, and check permits for additions and outbuildings. The area borders open space, so check brush clearance and get an insurance quote early.
Schools
Cornell is in the Las Virgenes Unified School District. Listings show Sumac Elementary, Lindero Canyon Middle School and Agoura High School. Confirm the assignment for a specific address with the district.
