Agoura Hills has few gated communities. Three neighborhoods sit fully behind a gate: Medea Valley Estates and Malibu View Estates, the estate enclaves off Kanan Road in unincorporated Cornell, and Town & Country, the condominium community at Kanan Road and Thousand Oaks Boulevard. Two more are partly gated: the lakeshore of Malibou Lake inside the Malibou Lake Mountain Club’s gate, and a few private streets in Cornell. Every other Agoura Hills neighborhood this site maps is open, and Oak Park, next door, has no gated communities at all. This page maps them, compares them and links to each guide.

The two estate gates are both off Kanan Road south of the 101, in unincorporated Los Angeles County with Agoura Hills addresses. Medea Valley Estates is entered through a keypad gate at the top of Castle View Road and holds about 65 properties on acre-plus lots; its three sales in the last two years had a median of $3.4 million. Malibu View Estates is a smaller loop of custom estates on Malibu View Court, described in listing copy as 18 residences behind a gate; the gate is not staffed. Town & Country, inside the city, is the entry point: 226 single-level condominiums behind a gate with gated parking, at a median of about $315,000.

Partly gated: Malibou Lake and Cornell

At Malibou Lake, the Malibou Lake Mountain Club, founded in 1922, owns the lake, the dam, the clubhouse and the shore, and the lakeshore streets ring the water inside the club’s gate; the hillside streets above are outside it. In Cornell, most of the ranch country along Cornell Road is open, but a few private streets sit behind their own gates, including the Countryside Drive enclave, and Hunt Club Court and Silver Creek Road have a gate of their own off Kanan Road. Check whether a specific parcel is inside a gate before you rely on it.

Does Oak Park have gated communities?

No. Oak Park, the unincorporated Ventura County community next to Agoura Hills, has no gated neighborhoods. Its 22 mapped neighborhoods are open streets, many with greenbelts, pools and associations, and none of the more than 300 MLS sales there in the last four years reported a gated community.
