The homes

The community

Bridgehaven is three streets behind a single gate: Vista Oaks Way, Heather Oaks Lane and Verde Ridge Lane. It was one of the last pieces of the Westlake Village master plan on this side, built mostly in 1998 and 1999 at the west end of the Foxmoor area, north of Potrero Road. Inside the gate are a greenbelt, a picnic area and a sport court. The larger lots are at the ends of the lanes.

The homes

No plan sheets are on file, but the houses repeat a handful of sizes: about 3,604, 3,620, 3,817, 4,226 and 4,318 square feet, with a few larger. Most are two-story with four or five bedrooms and three-car garages. The most common size is about 3,600 square feet—a two-story, four-bedroom plan.

Getting around

Potrero Road leads east to Westlake Boulevard, which runs north to the 101. Lake Sherwood is a few minutes west on Potrero Road.

What to check in a 1990s home

At twenty-five to thirty-five years old, original furnaces, air conditioners and water heaters are due or already replaced, tile-roof underlayment is nearing the end of its life, and dual-pane window seals may have failed. Check the permit history of any addition with the City of Thousand Oaks.

How it compares

Foxmoor, next door, has 1968–69 homes of about 2,400 square feet at a median of $1,550,000. The guard-gated neighborhoods of North Ranch and Lake Sherwood offer larger lots and homes at much higher prices and dues. Bridgehaven is one of the least expensive gated communities of large 1990s homes in Westlake Village.
