Lake Sherwood is the community around a private lake and the Sherwood Country Club, off Potrero Road west of Westlake Village in unincorporated Ventura County. It includes older lakeside homes and cabins, gated 1990s neighborhoods at the entrance, and guard-gated golf estates around the Jack Nicklaus course that opened in 1989. It is among the most expensive places to live in the Conejo Valley.

The neighborhoods
Around the lake
Lake Sherwood was a small lake community for decades before the rest of Westlake Village was planned. The golf club and the gated neighborhoods around it came in the late 1980s and 1990s. Each area has its own guide:
- Sherwood Country Club — about 330 guard-gated homesites around the course.
- Trentwood — attached homes inside the club gates.
- Lakeside homes on Lake Sherwood Drive, David Lane and Trentham Road.
- Thistleberry and Upson — the older hillside and shore lots.
- Sherwood North Shore, Meadows at Sherwood and The Glen — gated neighborhoods near the entrance.
- Carlisle Road — rural parcels in the hills to the south.
Living here
Associations
Most homes belong to the Lake Sherwood lake association, which manages the private lake. Gated neighborhoods add their own associations, and homes inside Sherwood Country Club pay a master association for the staffed gates. Golf club membership is separate.
Schools
Lake Sherwood is in the Conejo Valley Unified School District. Listings show Westlake Elementary, Colina Middle School and Westlake High School; confirm the assignment for a specific address with the district.
Getting around
Potrero Road runs east to Westlake Boulevard and the 101, about ten minutes away. Ventura County, not a city, handles permits.

Recent sales
60 homes sold between October 2024 and September 2026, from $1,650,000 to $11,000,000, with a median of $3,434,975. The gated neighborhoods near the entrance sold mostly between about $1,650,000 and $3,500,000, and homes inside Sherwood Country Club mostly between $5,000,000 and $7,000,000.

North Ranch Country Club Estates is the other guard-gated golf community nearby, generally at lower prices. Westlake Island offers lakefront living with a guard gate inside the City of Westlake Village.
