The Colony is a gated townhome community of about 128 homes south of Agoura Road at the east end of Westlake Village, on streets named for the American Revolution: Minute Man Way, Flintlock Lane, Lexington Way, Old Colony Way and Redcoat Lane. It was built in stages from 1981 to 1987. Behind the gate are tennis and pickleball courts, a pool and a spa. It is on the Los Angeles County side, in the Las Virgenes Unified School District.

The community

The Colony was built in four stages between 1981 and 1987 on the flat land south of Agoura Road. Five streets sit behind the gate, with the tennis and pickleball courts and the pool in the middle.

The floor plans

Four plans are on file: Plan 1, a two-bedroom; Plan 2, a three-bedroom; Plan 3, a two-bedroom with a den; and Plan 4, a three-bedroom. All are townhomes on two or three levels with the garage below. The sizes in recent sales are 1,407, 1,610, 1,658 and 1,726 square feet.

The association

The association maintains the gate, the courts, the pool and spa, the building exteriors and roofs, and the grounds. Dues rose from about $460 a month a few years ago to $560 on the 2025 sales. Ask for the budget, the reserve study and the master insurance policy.

Schools

The Colony is in the Las Virgenes Unified School District: White Oak Elementary, Lindero Canyon Middle School and Agoura High School. Confirm the assignment for a specific address with the district.

Getting around

Agoura Road runs along the north side, with the 101 at Lindero Canyon Road a few minutes away and Agoura Hills just east.

What to check in a 1980s townhome

Original furnaces, water heaters and windows are due or already replaced. With living space over garages, check for moisture and settlement at the garage level. The CC&Rs spell out what the association maintains and what the owner does.

4 townhomes sold between August and October 2025, from $850,000 to $966,500, with a median of $927,500. The 1,407-square-foot two-bedroom sold for $850,000; the three-bedroom plans of 1,610 to 1,726 square feet sold for $920,000 to $966,500. Two 1,407-square-foot homes were listed at $860,000 in 2026.

How it compares

Hidden Canyon, north of the freeway, has smaller townhomes for less, without a gate. Summer Shores and Watergate, near the lake, have single-level and small two-level units in a similar range. The Colony is the gated townhome option on the Los Angeles County side, with courts and a pool.
